CLASS LEVEL DESCRIPTIONS

INTRO LEVEL

Please start with the Intro to Pole Dancing Fitness Class regardless of prior fitness, dance or aerial training.  Learn the basics of the Climb & Spin, Inc. technique. 

BEGINNER / INTERMEDIATE (NON-INVERT) LEVEL

This level is appropriate for those that have completed the Intro to Pole Dancing Fitness class on at least one side, preferably both sides.  

INTERMEDIATE / ADVANCED (NON-INVERT) LEVEL

Once you have demonstrated solid, technique, timing, coordination and proper flexibility while performing the Beg/Int (non invert level) spins, climbs, descents, floor work and dance transitions in class, your Instructor will invite you either verbally or by email to join the Int/Adv (Non-Invert) level.  If you have not yet received an invite and feel you are ready for this level, please email swpdstaff@gmail.com to request an invitation.  

BEGINNER / INTERMEDIATE INVERT LEVEL

This class requires testing.  After mastering the Beg/Int/Adv Non-Invert level techniques, your Instructor will invite you to begin testing into this level.  


TESTING FOR THIS CLASS REQUIRES PASSING THE FOLLOWING CLASSES AT 90% (based on timing, technique, strength, coordination and flexibility): 

  • 3 INT/ADV (or all levels) POLE DRILLZ CLASSES
  • 3 INT/ADV POLE DANCING CLASSES (or 5-6 assigned movements in a Int/Adv Practice Class) 

INTERMEDIATE / ADVANCED INVERT LEVEL

This class requires an invitation from the Beg/Int Invert level.

INTRO TO POLE DANCING FITNESS

START WITH THIS CLASS TO LEARN THE BASICS OF THE POLE DANCING METHOD CREATED BY CLIMB & SPIN, INC.  YOU WILL LEARN A CHOREOGRAPHED ROUTINE CONSISTING OF BASIC DANCE TRANSITIONS, FLOOR WORK AND A SPIN!

STRETCH

55MINS OF FLEXIBILITY TRAINING FOR ALL FITNESS LEVELS.  INCREASE RANGE OF MOTION, CIRCULATION, AND FLEXIBILITY.  PLEASE INFORM YOUR INSTRUCTOR OF ANY INJURIES.

POLE FIT

TOTAL BODY WORKOUT SUITABLE FOR ALL FITNESS LEVELS. TO DEVELOP STRENGTH, BOTH CARDIO-VASCULAR AND MUSCULAR ENDURANCE.  ALSO DESIGNED TO INCREASE RANGE OF MOTION AND FLEXIBILITY.

SPINS & DANCE TRANSITIONS

THIS CLASS FOCUSES ON SPINS AND DANCE TRANSITIONS BASED ON THE CLIMB & SPIN, INC. METHOD.  YOU'LL LEARN A VARIETY OF SPINS AND DANCE TRANSITIONS WITH PROPER TECHNIQUE AND LEARN WAYS OF ADDING YOUR OWN ARTISTRY.

ROCK THE TOP CLIMBS & DANCE TRANSITIONS

SOUTHWEST SOX CLASS IS A MODERN/CONTEMPORARY BASED POLE/FLOORWORK CLASS. BRING YOUR KNEE OR THIGH HIGH SOX (AVAILABLE IN OUR SCHWAG SHOP, KNEE PADS (ALSO AVAILABLE IN OUR SHOP) AND BE PREPARED TO SLIP, SLIDE AND FLY!!!

CHAIR / FLOOR WERRRK

CHAIR DANCING FITNESS CLASSES ALBUQUERQUE, RIO RANCHO, SANTA FE, LOS LUNAS, SANDIA MOUNTAINS, FUN

THIS CLASS CONSISTS OF A 20-30MIN WARM UP FOLLOWED BY A CHOREOGRAPHED ROUTINE NAVIGATING FROM DANCE MOVEMENTS PERFORMED ON THE FLOOR, AND OFTEN (BUT NOT ALWAYS) USING A CHAIR AS A PROP. 

THIS CLASS USES SOME POLE AS A TRANSITIONAL TOOL.  THE MAIN FOCUS OF THIS CLASS IS FUN, FLEXIBILITY, COORDINATION, AND CORE STRENGTH ALL WHILE ENJOYING AND EMBRACING YOUR SLINKY SIDE.   WE RECOMMEND LEGGINGS OR THIGH-HIGH SOCKS OR LEGGINGS AND A LONG-SLEEVED SHIRT THAT CAN BE TAKEN OFF.  HEELS ARE OPTIONAL.

POLE DRILLZ

 This class consists of a lengthy warm-up/stretch focusing on increasing flexibility and injury prevention. Following the warm up, 15-20 mins of exercises are performed in drill-type fashion using the pole and your own body weight resistance to build muscular and cardiovascular endurance, coordination, skin conditioning and proper technique mimicking pole moves performed in other pole classes. This class is required in our invert testing program.

A HEELS, POLE AND FLOOR DANCING CLASS DESIGNED TO HELP YOU LEARN HOW TO PICK UP CHOREOGRAPHY, MOVE SEAMLESSLY, BETWEEN THE POLE AND THE FLOOR. MASTER A SUPER SEXY AND FLOWY, YET POWERFUL DANCE STYLE.

THIS CLASS GIVES YOU THE OPPORTUNITY TO PRACTICE WHAT YOU HAVE LEARNED IN CLASS WHILE LEANING HOW TO ADD ARTISTRY TO YOUR SPINS, CLIMBS AND DANCE TRANSITIONS.  IT ALSO ALLOWS YOU TO BE CHALLENGED BY THE INSTRUCTOR TO LEARN AND PRACTICE MOVES AND TECHNIQUES YOU MAY NOT HAVE YET LEARNED IN CLASS.

Lauren studied Languages and Philosophy at UNM and is now a massage therapist and yoga instructor. She has been pole dancing and working at SWPD since 2016. As a lover of barre classes and hoop dancing, she feels like pole is the perfect combination of fitness and creative expression. SWPD has been a source of growth, confidence, and community. Pole dancing has helped her find states of flow both on and off the pole, which she hopes to share with others through her work and her art.

Jen is currently obtaining her Masters degree, raising two children, and has been attending classes with SWPD since 2015. She is currently a work study with SWPD and finds that the classes have helped her to achieve her fitness goals, as well as give her self confidence; both on and off the pole!

Dani Belladona-Rivera

SWPD WORK-STUDY 

Dani has been with SWPD since October 2015 when she decided to branch from aerial acrobatics. SWPD has helped her with her confidence and body image while making her stronger and more free with choreographing as she was used to the rigid nature of martial arts. Since joining, she has used it as an advantage in martial arts, other forms of dance, and acting, among other things. She is happy to have found another family with SWPD.

SWPD POLICIES

  • NO LOTION OR OILS ANYWHERE ON YOUR BODY PLEASE.
    If you have applied lotion or oil to your hair or body the day of class or even the night before, please be sure to shower it all off before coming to class.  Thank you!
  • Please respect and follow the structure and level of the class you are taking.
  • Classes are 55 minutes. Practicing on poles between or after classes is not permitted.  
  • Student to student teaching and spotting is also not permitted. If a fellow student asks you how to do something in class, please refer them to the certified and insured Instructor. Thank you!
  • We do not allow observers in class.
  • Please, no gum in class.
  • Please remove your rings or bracelets prior to getting on the poles, as they scratch the poles.
  • If you remove a pin from a pole to put it on spin mode during class, please make sure you replace the pin before you leave.
  • Late arrivals (over 10 mins) may not be permitted in class and may forfeit the class.
  • Classes canceled within 12 hours from class start time will be forfeited.   We understand things happen and apologize, however, there are limited spots available in class. Thank you for your consideration and understanding.
  • Testing is required for our Invert level classes.  For testing questions, please email swpdstaff@gmail.com
  • Please inform your Instructor of any injuries PRIOR to class.
  • HAVE FUN!!!! WE ALL ENCOURAGE EACH OTHER HERE AT SWPD.  :)
